| A family-owned concern, Soup’s On Baltimore has a repertoire of about 200 soups. But don’t worry; customers have to sort through only about a dozen daily, divided between vegan, vegetarian, meat, seafood, and even dessert soups. Stocks are homemade and low-sodium and ingredients are topnotch. The offerings range from grandma-style (minestrone) to exotic (African peanut) and there’s sure to be something on the roster to suit any soup fan. The menu is rounded out with a few salads and sandwiches, also praise-worthy and remarkably inexpensive. Orders are placed at a rear window and most customers carry out, but the small row house space, with its jaunty yellow walls and cozy Victorian hearth, is a cheerful place to dine-in for lunch or for an early dinner (closing time 8 p.m. weekdays, 6 p.m. Sunday). |
