Spindini Restaurant Review: Memphis restaurateur Judd Grisanti opened this upscale Italian establishment in 2007. Spindini's see-and-be-seen ambience tends to attract a hip, artsy crowd, especially on monthly South Main Trolley Tour art walk nights. The kitchen turns out traditional Italian pasta dishes, such as oven-roasted lasagna. Among the pizzas, try the Roman Style with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and olives, cooked to order in a flaming-hot oven at the end of the bar. Organic produce for the vegetable sides, salads and pizza toppings is grown in the restaurant’s garden in nearby Holly Springs, Miss. Desserts include seasonal gelati and sorbetti, tiramisu and chocolate soufflé cake. Twenty-plus wines are offered by the glass, and many fine wines are available by the bottle. The list is divided by the old-world versus new-world dichotomy, and Reserve offerings feature selections such as Silver Oak and Ornellaia.
