Chef Joe Cartwright has taken the reins at Spindini, originally opened by Memphis restaurateur Judd Grisanti in 2007. Some things remain from the Grisanti days at the South Main eatery, such as the wood-fired pizzas cooked to order in a flaming-hot oven at the end of the bar. But Cartwright has added impressive items to the menu, such as pan-seared halibut with sautéed spinach and sun-dried tomatoes. The halibut comes topped with a honey-chili-infused balsamic which uses honey sourced from Spindini’s local bee farm. While in season, Cartwright sources produce from the restaurant’s own vegetable garden for dishes such as eggplant rollatini. Live music is also on the menu with indoor performances for Sunday brunch, Sunday night dinner, and South Main Art Trolley tour nights on the last Friday of the month.
