Steak 'n Shake Restaurant Review: The signature burger at this fast-growing chain is a combo of ground T-bone, sirloin and round steaks. The trifecta patty also shows up in the sliders (also known as shooters in other parts of the country) and melts (we like the Frisco). Toppings are fresh and generously applied, as are options like guacamole, portobello and barbecue sauce. Chili and hand-dipped shakes are available, too, not to mention a hot fudge sundae. And then there’s breakfast --- sausage and gravy, all-you-can-eat pancakes or skillets. The gleaming black-and-white tile persists, part of a color scheme that dates to the '30s, and it's still fun to pile into a booth or sit at the counter and watch the grill guy create magic with a spatula and a patty of ground steak. |
