Stoney River Legendary Steaks Restaurant Review

: Stoney River, a Nashville-based steakhouse chain, serves Midwestern grain-fed beef in a comfortable setting with rustic-style finishes. Start with the lobster bisque or the roasted onion soup topped with a crouton and Gruyère. The best deal for the solo diner may be the seven- or ten-ounce filet, rubbed with coffee, brown sugar and molasses. Order a steak rare, and rare is what you get. You'll also find a double-cut pork chop and roasted all-natural chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Fish-eaters may opt for salmon, pan-seared grouper or ahi, among other selections. For dessert, we suggest the Key lime pie. The wine list is fairly conventional, but does offer some good choices.

Recent Changes Disappointing...
by Lola on Wed Sep 02, 2015 10:00 am
We've been weekly patrons for several years, the recent changes in decor, price, quality, and menu are a disappointment. So much so that we have decided to look for another Friday night spot to dine. We enjoyed the cozy lodge atmosphere and decor; it is now a cold bland dining room with odd lighting fixtures and small black and white photos taking the place of the beautiful oil paintings. The menu has recently been updated including a SUBSTANTIAL price increase (Filet Petite Cut - 7 Oz. $31.00). We would understand and accept the price increase if the food quality was better or at least the same. It is not; my steak was tough and not cooked as ordered and we were told bread is no longer provided as part of the meal, you have to ask for it. We did ask for the bread (it is yummy) but it never arrived at the table and there was a $4 charge (for the bread we never got) on our bill. Many of the top notch service staff have departed for "other opportunities"; the staff replacements are young and lacking the experience expected at a steakhouse charging top dollar. Last but not least, they removed the Blue Cheese Chips and Key Lime Pie (our favorites) from the menu. Sad to say we will not be dining there again. :(
