Sushi Axiom Restaurant Review: Boasting the only flowing Kirin beer tap in Texas, plus 17 specialty martinis---the Martini Axiom is a sweet mix of pomegranate vodka and liqueur, Cointreau, pineapple juice and Champagne---this trendy Japanese fusion restaurant is a magnet for the hip set. They come to sample the impressive selection of hot and cold sakés, including the ginjo and junmai. Edamame is a predictable starter, but the spicy tuna and crab nachos better illustrate the restaurant's fusion bent. The signature Axiom roll is constructed with fresh salmon, crab and avocado surrounded by soy wrap and topped with tuna wasabi cream. Aji, a salt-licked Japanese horse mackerel, is served whole and deep-fried, while a plate of "dancing" beef reveals tender beef nuggets in a vigorously sweet sauce. The décor is a blend of bold red booths, stark black tables and birds of paradise arrangements, warmed by white lights. Service is thorough and playful.
