| Circa 1990, Michael Tabrizi’s Federal Hill bistro was a real innovation. Middle Eastern food served in a romantic room with hydrangea wallpaper and a classical soundtrack? Authentic Turkish fare sharing a menu with classic French and Italian cuisine? This fusion pioneer was a sensation, making it all the more surprising when Tabrizi abruptly left the business a few years later---and all the more cheering that he, and his nouvelle-Mediterranean oeuvre, returned to Baltimore. Located in a marina community with a striking harbor view, this Tabrizi’s is a low-key beauty, finished with honey-colored stone and blond wood, and boasting an open kitchen. In contrast to the room’s elegant neutrals, the food is colorful and eclectic, with organic vegetables garnishing dishes as varied as lamb kebabs and miso-glazed Norwegian salmon. For diners who’d like a lighter bite, Tabrizi’s also offers an assortment of small plates, pizza, pastas, and even a Persian-accented burger. |
