Tanioka's Restaurant Review: Locals “in the know” have flocked to this spot in rural Oahu since 1978 for some of the best poke around. The ahi limu poke is probably one of the best sellers; the woman who makes this particular poke is the one who originally created it for the store decades ago. Other poke favorites include alae (red salt) poke, onion limu poke, crab poke and sesame tako (octopus) poke. They also have a dried poke that is, as described by the owners, like salty candy. Plate lunches are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and include favorites like mochiko chicken, furikake ahi, and a monthly special, such as pulu masima (corned beef laulau). Japanese rice balls (musubi), fried noodles and fried chicken are served as well.
