Taps y Tapas Restaurant Review:

Taps y Tapas (TyT) is the clapboard cottage offspring of food truck folks, and it shows in the casual, homemade vibe with equal emphasis on outdoor seating, the small food portions served in cardboard boats, and the too-cool demeanor of the bartenders. There are places with more crafty beers on tap (TyT has 24), but if you sit at the small bar, you can sample draws from small paper cups. The menu takes off on Mexican themes as befits the chef’s background. Tacos 3 Ways is a sampler with carne asada, al pastor and beer-battered fish, all paired with assorted toppings and garnishes --- and all generally pretty good. The same goes for the trio of tiny sopes with asada, carnitas and pollo asado. We forgive the downfall of the kale salad, as huitlacoche and flor de calabaza quesadillas are also available, but for a little more substance, consider costillas (ribs) in guajillo chile sauce. Expect Sunday jazz in the backyard, and various happy hour specials offer opportunities to sidestep the pricing. Sunday brunch has “kinda sorta bottomless mimosas.”
