| Young executive chef Jeffrey Wall not only presides at adjacent sibling establishment La Fourchette, he now also tends to the pizza-making at Tartufo. The thin-crust beauties come in ten-inch and 14-inch sizes (although you have to ask for the smaller of the two). Don't expect them to be dripping with tomato sauce or drowning in cheese. In fact, the Romana comes with a thin layer of tomato sauce plus garlic and oregano. The namesake Tartufo pie is a winner --- redolent with truffle oil and topped with fresh mozzarella, mushrooms, caramelized onions and a scattering of fresh arugula after it's baked. While you can get the pizzas for take-out, we urge you to enjoy them in-house while they're at their peak. Salads make good companions. We suggest the house-made gelati for dessert, especially the chocolate. Wines may be ordered from the La Fourchette list, and it has plenty to offer. |
