This Tex-Mex joint in Uptown serves up one of the best chili rellenos around. It’s an absolute marvel of delicately battered and fried poblano pepper stuffed with a fluffy, spicy concoction of raisins, pecans, Spanish rice and Monterey Jack and topped with a charred salsa. Tacos aren’t too shabby either, especially the Smokehouse combo with smoked beef short rib, pork and chicken mole tacos served in old-school-style small white corn tortillas. Black beans are the side of choice, and you must have an order of the silky Queso #7 made with a piquant blend of Mexican cheese. On the lighter side, the redfish ceviche is a bright, jalapeño-infused dish served with cooling pieces of fresh avocado. Wash it all down with the frozen margarita of the day.
