Thalia Spice Restaurant Review: On weekends, in particular, it’s hard to get a table. But who could have known such a tiny place would create this hullabaloo? Rustic wood and swirls of ironwork make the place feel organic and comfortable; fuzzy roll pillows lining a banquette exude hip flair. The kitchen, which is located one floor up, churns out a massive array of Asian dishes, touching on enough cuisines to be dizzying. To our delight, it most often succeeds. Pleasantly toothsome roti canai --- wedges of Indian bread with full-of-depth yellow curry for dipping --- has an unforgettable quality. River Boat noodles, a brothy concoction popular along the Bangkok canals, is aromatic and herb-specked like pho, while steamed banana blossom mixed with shredded chicken, shrimp and red onion is as appealing as it gets. A number of private dining rooms augment the seating arrangement. Cheap drinks specials lure a happy hour crowd.
