THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Timpano Italian Chophouse Restaurant Review: If your idea of a splurge is a dry martini, a thick, grilled steak, professional service and Frank Sinatra tunes, head to this Italian eatery. Just a stone's throw from busy International Drive, the restaurant is reminiscent of the classic clubs of Chicago and New York in the 1950s. Timpano features a sophisticated setting: velvet draperies, big booths, white tablecloths and chandeliers. While much of the menu lacks finesse or great flavor, the steaks are worthwhile. Nibble a chopped salad before moving on to the bone-in rib-eye or New York strip. Stick to simple sides, like sautéed spinach or mashed potatoes and skip the mac ‘n’ cheese. We can also recommend the black skillet-roasted mussels for a starter for two or as a light meal. And if you dare, top off the meal with tiramisu. Tuesdays through Saturdays, the Starlight Lounge features the sounds of a baby grand piano and live swing, jazz and Rat Pack classics. |
