| While a guitarist strolls through the cozy café with adobe arches and secluded alcoves, Spanish love songs waft through a room made for romance and the love of good food. This quaint Bellaire tradition specializes in lamb shank, but other dishes from Spain also grab the attention of loyal diners. Try the paella, a mixture of chicken, pork, seafood and saffron rice. If you're looking for a lunch deal, try the fabada (a white bean soup with ham and sausage) or an authentic Spanish omelet. For dinner, start with tapas or gazpacho Andaluz. Other winning entrées include pollo or ternera Tio Pepe---chicken or veal prepared in a delicate sauce of mushrooms and sherry. Seafood-lovers will want to sample the zarzuela de mariscos tipo Barcelona, a seafood casserole in a spicy Catalan red sauce. After dinner, sit back, relax and enjoy the show on the small corner stage. Guitarist-owner Carlos Rodno strums nightly, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays authentic flamenco dancers join him. |
