THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED Chief design elements of this charming café are wood-plank walls, tables and benches, accented with old gas station and railroad signs. But once you’ve visited this casual throwback to '70s fern bars, you may find yourself pulling in whenever you're anywhere near Seabrook for some of the best burgers in the greater Houston area. The ones called “veterans” are perfect in their simplicity. Fresh ground beef is hand-shaped, well-seasoned and cooked on a griddle. Tookie's also offers its own "creations," with such concoctions as the bean burger, with a dollop of refried beans. Top it off with the onion rings, another Tookie's specialty---thick slices carefully battered and fried to golden perfection. Don't resist.
