THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tower Fine Dining Restaurant Review: Under the direction of the Morongo Casino's executive chef, Christophe Douheret, Tower bears its Fine Dining appendage partly as a statement of fact: This is, indeed, a dining room with serious pretensions---and serious prices. But the name is also a warning to roaming casino-goers who might want to eat here just for the view, only to be surprised that they won't get an all-you-can-eat bargain meal. (If you just want the view, go to the lounge one floor below.) The cuisine is predominantly upscale Italian, with an eye towards a broader Mediterranean prospect. Antipasti include impeccably grilled calamari with garlic, rosemary and lemon, and a trendily deconstructed bruschetta. Good lamb chops, a tender osso buco Milanese, and a fine cioppino represent the menu at its conservative best. But there is still plenty of room for the cooking to rise to the level of the location. |
