Trattoria Mediterranea Restaurant Review: This small, family-run Italian restaurant distinguishes itself from so many others with its emphasis on the dishes of Calabria. Trattoria Mediterranea boasts a pleasant décor and friendly if less than expert service. Among the starters is carpaccio di Manzo, paper-thin slices of ﬁlet mignon topped with an aromatic mixture of capers, red onions and lemon served with arugula. Pastas are also a highlight; most are homemade. Among the usual selection of Italian favorites is the casarecce Calabrese, sautéed spicy n’duja sausage in tomato sauce. Entrées are not quite so successful, and not always carefully made. When it comes to desserts, say “yes” to a selection from among the small array, all made in-house and all Italian.
