Trattoria Mediterranea Restaurant Review: This tiny Italian restaurant distinguishes itself from so many others with its emphasis on the dishes of Calabria. Trattoria Mediterranea boasts a pleasant décor and friendly if less than expert service. Among the starters, salsiccia con escarole --- escarole sautéed with garlic and homemade sausage --- is a standout. Pastas are also a highlight; most are homemade. Among the usual selection of Italian favorites is the fusilli Giuliana --- the pasta is sautéed with julienne vegetables in a light cream sauce. Entrées are not quite so successful, and not always carefully made. When it comes to desserts, say “yes” to a selection from among the small array --- all made in-house and all Italian.
