The Tropicale Restaurant & Coral Seas Lounge Restaurant Review

: The busy bar and dining room have a supper club atmosphere that nicely suits the Palm Springs scene, deliberately evoking memories of mid-century high times. The cuisine is light and exotic with an emphasis on Pacific Rim specialties, from Chilean sea bass to Thai shrimp curry and a rather tasty KahlĂșa-barbecued pork chop. There's tapas, salads and gourmet pizzas as well. Maybe a little too much variety, but it is all well executed. Taking a cue from Mother Nature, chef Tony Di Lembo updates the menu seasonally. Cocktails can be refreshing, if not creative, with spicy mojitos and Moscow Mules. As the evening grows older, the crowd grows younger and louder, making for a festive night if you're in the mood to party.

By far one of the best in Palm Springs

From start to finish this was one of the best experiences we ever had in a popular restaurant in Palm Springs. We arrived and the Host staff was extremely attentive, puctual and nice. They escorted us to our romantic patio table and the patio in this restaurant is amazing. You sit under the stars with overhead Italian riviera lights above your head, there are torches, water features and soft yellow and pink tones everywhere you look. Our server was outstanding. She was well versed on the specials and any questions we had about the menu she was able to answer without hesitation. I ordered the Mandarin Calamar, my partner the New Zealand Green lipped mussles...both wonderful. For our entrees I chose the Fried Chicken...YUMMY, and my partner the Teriyake Salmon Rice Bowl in which he loved. For dessert we had the new Goat Cheese Cheesecake. Who knew you could make cheesecake from goat cheese? It was to die for. Our wine was amazing, the whole experience amazing. I would highly recommend Tropicale to anyone and everyone visiting Palm Springs. Thanks Tropicale!

Bad Attitude, and a Bad Experience

I took some out of town guests to Tropicale recently. I've been there numerous times, and enjoyed the setting, and put up with the food, which can be hit or miss. It's more about the "scene" than it is about the food. Anyway, I took some guests there and were seated at an outside table on a very muggy night. The misters were going full blast, and soon our table was enveloped in a bank of mist so heavy I couldn't see the people sitting across the table from me. Our table was wet with condensation, as were we. The food came and we asked the waiter if he could turn off the misters, and he sent the owner over to us. We politely asked him to turn them off, and he said "fine." Five minutes later, the misters were back on, going full blast. Our food was dripping wet at this point, and we sent back half of our food because of it. We were appalled, but decided to just pay the bill and get out of there.
