The Tropicale Restaurant & Coral Seas Lounge Restaurant Review: The busy bar and dining room have a supper club atmosphere that nicely suits the Palm Springs scene, deliberately evoking memories of mid-century high times. With a wide variety of creative cocktails, running from the spicy mojito to a chi chi colada, partner and barman Ranz Wienert keeps the patio and lounge humming. Chef-partner Tony Di Lembo has created an eclectic menu culled from the most popular dishes at his previous Los Angeles ventures (Indigo, Tahiti and Chippy's Diner). Small plates, sandwiches, salads and pizzas keep both bar patrons and diners happy, but if you're in the mood for something more substantial, then there are plenty of entrées to choose from, including Southern fried chicken (resurrected from the chef's student days in New Orleans) and a miso-glazed Atlantic salmon rice bowl. The crowd gets younger as the evening progresses.
