Turtle Bay Taqueria Restaurant Review: Expect fresh Mexican food with a coastal twist at this friendly downtown Monterey location (there's another location in nearby Seaside). Start out with a cup of sopa de lima, a clear chicken soup accented with lemon-lime. Bahia bowls such as the Baja fish bowl or the pork loin Yucateca are full of character. Meats, chicken or fish soak up mild spice in zesty marinades, and are tossed with beans, rice and vegetables. Charbroiled tilapia or calamari plump up tacos, and seafood also stars in a cheesy quesadilla. Salsas sometimes change with the seasons; pour a little cranberry salsa over the chicken Belize burrito. Turtle Bay is casual enough to toss back a couple of charbroiled steak tacos on a half-hour lunch break; it's also an affordable, healthy and fun spot the kids will enjoy. |
