WaterCourse Foods Restaurant Review: Organic-inclined herbivores commune over buckwheat pancakes, tofu, tempeh and seitan at this campy Uptown health food hangout. The light and airy dining room, flanked by walls of windows, also boasts a perpetually packed counter overseen by a groovy, easygoing staff. The 100 percent vegan menu is fresh, vibrant and full of tasty dishes including tofu scrambles studded with vegetables, house-made biscuits and mushroom gravy, banana bread french toast draped with maple syrup, and organic oatmeal sprinkled with brown sugar and berries. For lunch, order the sampler pesto plate paired with pita bread or the tempeh burger topped with caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms and your choice of sauces, including barbecue or teriyaki. We also like the green chile quinoa burger, as well as the blackened tofu wrap. For dinner, the corn-and-chive waffle paired with crispy tofu "chicken" is a popular choice.
