THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ya Ya's Cajun Cuisine Restaurant Review:
Trimmed in tiny white lights, Ya Yas is an established neighborhood eatery that draws a young, frisky crowd to eat good, cheap fare and listen to music on the weekends. Its unpretentious, from the comfortable patio outside to the dimly lit, rustic interior. The gumbo is properly roux-thickened and chunky, with enough seasoning to raise its heat level to the noticeable but not intolerable. Fried shrimp are lightly coated and perfectly done, still sweet and tender. Crayfish étouffée plunks tender, sweet tail meat on rice, and this is the best boudin (pork-and-rice sausage) in these parts. Theres a wine list, but an Abita amber beer is the best quaff with this food.
