| How we do like this vibrant borscht; it has the power to banish winter doldrums. All the Slavic specialties bring sunlight to plates heaped with pierogies, potato pancakes, cabbage rolls, and caraway-spiced wilted cabbage. Odd to find such goodies in the congenial surrounds of a Fells Point coffeehouse, but here they are. Yes, there are other things to order from a roster of non-Slavic specialties, like rosemary-pesto lamb and shrimp and scallop risotto. They can be very good. But it's the taste of Eastern Europe and the affable vibe of this storefront café kitted out in stenciled high-back chairs and mismatched tables that keep us coming back for more. |
