Zyka Restaurant Review: Feeling more like a prep school dining hall, this cavernous, unpretentious bastion of Indian cooking serves Chicken 65 (an appetizer of fried chicken); butter chicken; basmati rice with goat meat, yogurt and spices; lentils with tomatoes and cumin; and saffron ice cream with pistachios and cardamom. A tandoor-roasted kebab of beef (beef boti) marinated in yogurt, ginger and garlic is good rolled in naan and served with a dab of raita (homemade yogurt with onions, tomatoes, diced potatoes, mint and cilantro). Vegetable khorma presents nicely seasoned fresh vegetables in a soupy sauce, to be dressed with sliced onion and a squeeze of lime. Most dishes are mild. Masala tea with aromatic spices makes a nice beverage. Idea: Do take-out so you can have a bottle of Gewürztraminer or a good brew at home with this food. |
