A Luxury Vineyard Retreat
Resting on a gentle hilltop, surrounded by verdant vineyards, The Louise is perhaps the most luxurious retreat in the heart of South Australia's Barossa Valley, a wine-growing region boasting some of the oldest vines in the world. Only fifteen suites are offered, each featuring contemporary furnishings, spacious en-suite bathrooms with spa tubs and dual rain showers, king-sized beds with fine linens, and private courtyards. Some suites are outfitted with outdoor showers, fireplaces and heated floors as well.
Modeled after the highly-regarded hospitality venues in France and Napa Valley, California, The Louise aims the spotlight on its restaurant and cultivated cellar, with the idea that luxurious accommodation is a complement to the food and wine focus. The property's award-winning restaurant Appellation, helmed by executive chef Mark McNamara, features a menu of fresh seasonal fare from local producers and Appellation's own kitchen garden as well as a signature wine flight tasting menu paired with a selection of distinctive Barossa wines.
In addition to bringing the local flavors of Barossa Valley to its guests, The Louise also serves as a great base from which to explore the many prestigious wineries in the area. As for the grounds of the retreat, only a small swimming pool sits on the premises, and the minimalism of the retreat gives guests room to breathe in a relaxing setting.
