Enjoying Dining by the Pool | 7 Mile Kitchen, Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa

In the far background, behind the palm trees, there is a beach stretching over seven miles, hence the name of the restaurant. But on beautiful days, and there are many here, you will (or should) be dining by the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa‘s swimming pool.

At this all-day dining restaurant, the chef has composed a classic American menu with dishes like smoked wings, fennel sausage meatballs and Caesar salad for starters. The patty of the O.G. Burger is a blend of short ribs, brisket and chuck, qualifying it for the gourmet burger category. In the “Specialty Plates,” the IPA Battered Fish & Chips is a good choice. Unfortunately, the artisanal pizzas are only served at dinner time. If I had known, I would have changed my schedule as I would have been happy to try the piquillo pepper, charred broccolini, roasted wild mushrooms, onion, hummus and arugula pie.

The cheesecake brûlée with its flower carved strawberries was a good way to end my lunch. Sadly, I am now realizing I did not try the local and seasonal gelato, which is also available at the gelato bar to take home or to your room.

Note that there is an all-day kids’ menu — perfect after their day at nearby Legoland.
