THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Amuse Cafe Restaurant Review:
Sweet KISS, as in Keep It Simple S....... is the motto here. The chef-owner duo of Brooke Williamson, formerly the executive chef at Zax in Brentwood, and partner Nick Roberts, formerly of Highlands Inn in Carmel, have amassed some serious time at posh establishments despite their young age. But for their very own starter they decided to go easy. Everything comes together nicely in this charming two-story structure that had a previous life as a railroad bunkhouse, but now boasts an upstairs dining room, a downstairs lounge and outdoor patio. The homey feeling is carried out from the entrance living room to the herbs planted throughout the outside. The yellow house, as its nickname could certainly become, has some fine dishes inspired by the season and market availability. Your Amuse bouche of the day will be followed by a calamari salad or an assortment of cured meats, then a perfectly roasted halibut with soba noodles or a grilled flat iron steak in lavender balsamic reduction. And don't forget Brooke's debut as a pastry chef. The walls are adorned by Brooke's father's photography---it's all for sale and beautiful. At these prices, new American bistro food should be de rigueur frequently.
