Andrea's Restaurant Review

About the restaurant: Charismatic Italian-born chef Andrea Apuzzo, who hails from the Isle of Capri, is very much in charge of his kitchen but makes frequent appearances in the cavernous white-tablecloth dining rooms with paneled walls adorned with classic paintings and just the right lighting.

Likes: The happiest chef in town.
Dislikes: None.

Food & Drinks: Apuzzo offers inventive fresh seafood dishes; try the speckled trout sautéed in olive oil and topped with lump crab meat, but only after you take your time with a dozen charbroiled oysters. Italian-influenced fare ranges from the caprese salad to veal scaloppine, and cioppino to what may be the city’s best osso buco. The long list of house-made pastas covers all the standards. We recommend the gnocchi with four-cheese sauce. For dessert, consider the Italian ice creams or authentic Sicilian cannoli filled with chocolate or vanilla ricotta. The well-thought-out wine list proposes respectable international selections. Adjacent to the restaurant, the colorful, airy Capri Blu Bar is good for after-dinner drinks (try the Electric Lemonade) or happy hour.
