THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ari-Ya Sushi Cafe Restaurant Review:
Despite Old Pasadena's dramatic emergence as a top dining destination, outstanding sushi has never been the neighborhood's strong suit. However, this entry onto the bustling Colorado Boulevard scene separates itself from the others. The storefront, a former rib joint, is austerely but attractively appointed with a blonde wood sushi bar and some linen-clad tables. The fish is higher quality than many neighborhood sushi bars, the chefs are skillful and the house specialties are ambitious. Consider items such as yellowtail carpaccio with yuzu sauce, charred albacore with garlic-ponzu sauce and black pepper-seared salmon sashimi with mustard-miso glaze. In addition to fine sushi, all the usual teriyaki and tempura dishes are offered.
