: Cincinnati isn't what you would call a mecca for Mexican food. But if you're craving fresh-flavored street tacos and made-just-right creamy guacamole, this place fills the void. It's a small space with a feel-good atmosphere. The restaurant almost has a split personality: American Country/Mexican. You might hear Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash while you sip your margarita or wait for a table. And the barkeep might tempt you with a Bluegrass concoction (the place does sit on the Kentucky border). Bakersfield OTR holds a fondness for Kentucky bourbons and American whiskeys. So have a drink and get the queso with hot house-pickled jalapeƱos. If you're hungry, order a few of the $4 snack-size tacos with house-made tortillas packed with fresh ingredients. The Pastor is a good choice, made with chili-marinated pork and pineapple, picked onion and cilantro; the braised short rib taco has queso fresco, crema, pickled onions, cilantro and radish. Try all eight taco combinations and you may grow addicted to this trendy taco lounge. |
