![]() : Once you walk through the posh Sports Club/LA, where you may see local athletes and celebrities pumping iron, you come upon blu. The contemporary space is filled with brushed metals, natural light, curvy banquettes and cool angles with an all-encompassing view of Downtown Crossing. If all that sounds a bit idiosyncratic, well, it is; blu is not for the fine-dining traditionalist. Start with a glass of white sangría paired with a sampling of seared scallops with celery root purée, wilted spinach, bacon and walnut brown butter. Main events include seared filet mignon, three-cheese ravioli with spicy Italian sausage, shrimp linguine with saffron butter, and bone-in lamb chops. The best bang for your buck is at the bar with slider and skewer appetizer specials available weekdays. You may reconsider dessert after watching the view of the toned beauties who stream in and out of the gym, but the orange ricotta cheesecake with dark chocolate mousse is worth the extra calories. |
