THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Cafe 140 South Restaurant Review:
Smith Brothers restaurant group (Parkway Grill, Arroyo Chophouse, Smitty’s Grill) changed the name of its long-running Crocodile Café to Café 140 South, transforming it into a brasserie, although much of the casual California fare remains the same. Appetizers like short rib tacos, a wood-grilled artichoke, and sweet chile calamari are on order, in addition to good burgers that draw local diners. Pizzas feature toppings like barbecued chicken, mozzarella, Gouda and red onions. Among larger plates are upscale fajitas with marinated flank steak, traditional beef bourguignon, and grilled Cuban-style chicken breast with almonds and raisins. Carrot cake is an indulgent finish, and there is a small but well-selected wine list. The sidewalk patio, adjacent to a shady courtyard, is a pleasant place to dine before hitting the shopping on Lake Avenue.
