About the restaurant: Chef-restaurateur Michael Mina and chef-partner Adam Sobel are behind Cal Mare, located in the Beverly Center. Don’t let the fact that it’s in a shopping mall deter you --- this is a true dining destination. It’s also fairly straightforward to access since it’s on the street level on La Cienega Boulevard. There's easy valet parking on Third Street.

Likes: The whole menu. Décor.
Dislikes: We have not found any so far.

About the food & drinks: Italy’s coast and California inspire the restaurant, and the menu highlights local ingredients. Expect Pacific oysters with limoncello granita, brick-oven pizzas, handmade pastas such as rigatoni “all’amatriciana di mare” with smoked tuna belly and guanciale, and aged roasted duck for two with lavender honey and fennel seed. Grilled fish options range from branzino to turbot served tableside and red snapper. To finish there are only gelato and sorbet --- we say "and," not "or," as they are all so good, you should order all and not try to choose. Drinks include Italian wines, sodas, craft cocktails and house-made limoncello.
