Casa Nostra Ristorante Downtown Restaurant Review

: The owners of Casa Nostra Ristorante, a Pacific Palisades favorite, took a chance on downtown L.A. at a location convenient to Staples Center. Begin with meatballs, beef carpaccio or minestrone, before moving on to hearty, familiar fare like lasagna alla Bolognese, cioppino or thin-crusted margherita pizza. Pasta is the strong suit, with intriguing selections like pappardelle in a duck ragù, pumpkin-stuffed tortellini in brown butter-sage sauce, and veal ravioli in porcini sauce. The California-Italian wine list offers some good values, and desserts include chocolate soufflé cake and a recommendable tiramisu. The room is handsome and clubby, and the service welcoming.
