Champs Elysees Restaurant Review: A charming neighborhood café, Champs Elysées is the kind of place where you're as likely to hear a "bonjour" as you are to be greeted with "hello." At breakfast, choose from an extensive list of egg dishes or splurge with a crêpe paysanne filled with chicken and mushrooms. At lunch, the menu is surprisingly more extensive than the expected SoCal deli with a French accent. In addition to quiche, smoked trout salad or a croque monsieur, there are larger plates such as steak au poivre, chicken in lemon-caper sauce, and coq au vin. The pastry case is alluring, filled with tarte Tatin and chocolate éclairs. A cozy spot for an afternoon coffee, Champs Elysées is also a convenient bakery for brioche and pain aux raisins on the run. |
