A tasty and slightly more upscale version of Thai cuisine than what’s typically found in Los Angeles.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chan Dara Restaurant Review:
One of the first hip Thai restaurants in L.A., Chan Dara has a good looking and sexy ambience with just enough creativity on the menu to match. They do the typical Thai dishes extremely well: crunchy, not-too-sweet mee krob; chewy pad thai noodles; various vegetable stir-fries; spicy beef and commendable satays. In addition, there are specialties not found in most other Thai restaurants, such as a Thai-style crab cake with mango chutney, thin-sliced calamari sautéed in white wine and garlic, and seafood paella loaded with scallops, king crab, shrimp, chicken and Portuguese sausage with a yellow curry sauce. The barbecued chicken is a mainstay, as is Bangkok beef stew and deep-fried whole crispy striped bass. Coconut cake, as well as flambéed bananas with ice cream and caramel sauce, are among a few of the desserts. A full bar is available with drinks that feature ingredients like lemon grass and tropical fruits.
