Dean Street Restaurant Review:
Jumping on the gastropub bandwagon, this tavern-like restaurant in Prospect Heights has a high-ceilinged dining room and an adjacent café that boast wood tables, banquettes, and exposed brick walls. The beer list, naturally, focuses on local brews, among them Kelso on tap (along with other craft beers). A slight Southern accent is evident in the food, like meatballs and grits and biscuits and gravy. The grilled burger won’t win any awards, but is good enough to order on a future visit; so are the fish ‘n’ chips, refreshingly devoid of grease. Among desserts, opt for the moist chocolate blackout cake. Service is friendly enough to make you forget you’re in New York City.
