The Den of Hollywood Restaurant Review

: Along the chaotic drive of Sunset Boulevard, this dimly lit, casual eatery is a welcome escape. With its multiple levels and intimate quarters, the gastropub is more reminiscent of a farmhouse than bustling bar. A wood-beamed ceiling covers a dining room comprised of red booths, fireplaces and small alcoves for a more private experience, while a patio retrofitted with fire pits wraps around the sides and the rear of the main structure, encouraging groups to mingle. Classic pub fare includes starters like “angry mac,” a deep dish of macaroni with poblano chilies, pork chorizo and pepper jack cheese, which ignites the palate. Bacon and cheese donut holes are as rich as expected, and the slightly sweet pork belly tacos, served with red chili cream and onion jam, make a nice entrée. Pair them with Hitachino Nest White Ale, which has a ginger and citrus quality that complements the spice of the tacos. More serious cocktails include a spicy Paloma with mezcal and Serrano pepper, and an Italian greyhound pepped up with Aperol. Dessert is limited to chocolate chip cookies. A special barbecue menu is available on Sundays, and Sunday brunch offers the likes of Fireball french toast, made with cinnamon whiskey, maple syrup and brioche.
