Making a Pizza with Chef Michael Hung

Downtown Los Angeles, October 2020

When dining in the past at Faith & Flower, I have always liked the Art Deco feel created by the various decorative elements seen upon entering the restaurant. While walking through the covered patio sprawling in front, I would at times be tempted to dine outside but the call for the inside always won.

But during these unprecedented moments created by the current health situation, I was left with no choice but to enjoy chef Michael Hung’s cuisine on the terrace, bringing an end to my seating dilemma,

Different times brought a lighter menu, and let’s admit it, with less sophisticated dishes than I’ve experienced in the past. I got to go in the kitchen and accompany Hung making a pizza, cooked with a half-wood (for flavor) and half-gas oven — watch the video below.

Of course, it arrived to my table. The crust, a three-day process, was just perfect. In a matter of minutes, it was all gone. Hung offers three wood-oven Neapolitan-style pizzas, including a vegan one. You can also build your own choosing from 12 ingredients.

The pizzas and the menu are available for take-out and delivery.
