Bob and Mary Jo Sargent transformed an old bank into flora years ago, but their labor of love remains a standout in Arlington's dining scene. An open kitchen injects a little bit of downtown chic into the casually elegant dining room designed by Sandra Fairbank, while chef Sargent, a Boston kitchen veteran, puts his fancy culinary chops in service of surprisingly simple New American classics with French and Italian influences --- think coq au vin and Arctic char en croûte with hollandaise sauce. Sip on a Pomerita or Russian Daisy that pair up nicely with crispy cod and crab cakes. Finish your meal with a slice of not-so-traditional New York cheesecake topped with red wine-poached sour cherries. The wine list is small and well-chosen, as is the tea selection.
