Giannfranco's Trattoria Restaurant Review:
This family-run trattoria offers up authentic Italian food in the quiet hamlet of Carpinteria. The narrow interior is fairly basic with its décor, but it's the outdoor patio in back that gives you the open feel of Italy. The dinner menu is comprised of pasta, fish, meat and poultry entrées, including a good burrata salad with Belgian endive. Also notable among them are lamb chops with Italian herbs and gnocchi, and double-cut short ribs slowly braised in herbs and wine. Whole-grain mustard beurre blanc complements the flavor of Atlantic salmon, translucent pink inside yet sharply seared. The wine list is heavy on Italian labels and some local bottles. In addition to Italian standards like tiramisu, the dessert menu offers seasonal sweets including an Italian tart.
