THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Gorikee Restaurant Review:
This appealing neighborhood restaurant makes the mistake of billing itself as a gourmet garlic fusion restaurant. That obscures the seriousness of its cuisine, executed by chef-owner Atsuhiro Tsuji, previously of Chaya Venice. Most folks start with the signature appetizer of three roasted garlic heads, perfect for spreading on bread, while others opt for Cajun shrimp or a soft-shell crab served with a saké-soy reduction and wasabi aïoli. Main courses range from crispy, garlicky roasted chicken in mustard sauce to grilled salmon with a lovely Champagne sauce. In every fun-filled---and eminently affordable---dish, Tsuji's classical technique is evident. The place is decidedly casual, befitting its location in a suburban shopping center, but certainly worth discovering.
