THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Grace Restaurant Review:
Editor's Note: Following the departure of chef Curtis Duffy and general manager Michael Muser, Grace has closed
About the restaurant and décor: Breathtaking. Painstaking attention to detail. These words only hint at the experience in store at chef Curtis Duffy's refined New American restaurant. Dressed in neutral tones, the dining room is minimalist yet elegant and allows what’s on the plate to shine. A private dining room is also available.
About the food: The ultra-luxe, set-price "Flora" and "Fauna" menus ($235 for 8-12 courses) arrive in jaw-dropping fashion, using vessels and plates that add to the wonderment. It may well be the most you ever spend on a meal --- especially when you add wine pairings into the mix. That said, dishes such as ahi tuna with caviar, coconut and chervil; lamb with pineapple, olive and tangerine lace; and squab with maitake, cranberry and mint. The confounding study in contrasts continues to finales, like a parsnip-themed dessert offset by grape, malt and pennyroyal mint or chocolate that showcases banana, yuzu and tarragon.
About the wine: As for that wine list, general manager/partner Michael Muser ensures it's incredible. Just expect it to lean French and largely white, with most selections hailing from the Loire Valley. Service, well-trained if a bit stoic, is just as impeccable as you'd expect.
