THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Grapeseed Restaurant Review:
Chef Jeff Heineman, owner of Bethesda's only wine bistro, has chalked up a sure winner with this tidy, bright, cheerful tapas/full-meal restaurant. Grapeseed offers a unique twist: Many of Heineman's dishes have been inspired by a specific wine. If you order a tapas chimichurri roasted mussels, he'll suggest sipping the complementary Bonny Doon Le Cigare Volant; on the other hand, if you select a dinner entrée of breast of turkey stuffed with Fontina, almonds and olives, he'd want you to pair that with a Mission Saint Vincent Bordeaux from France. Many of the dishes are inventive and offbeat, such as a white grape gazpacho; others are too tricky to work right, such as the bland mango chiffon pie. But you'll never be bored eating and drinking here. After all, the wine list is pages and pages long. Note that Tuesday nights are half-price wine nights.
