HopSaint Brewing Company Restaurant Review

: HopSaint is equal parts brewery, pub and restaurant --- all adding up to a place where you'll want to settle in and stay awhile. Located in the back corner of a Torrance strip mall, the stand-alone space is far more aesthetically appealing than the street view would imply. An industrial setting, with lots of natural light and warm wood design elements, houses an open dining room and a long bar with a few TVs. Off to the side, guests can get a glimpse of the massive stainless steel tanks where the magic of on-site brewing happens. Patrons can choose from several house-brewed beers with creative names like "Get Out The Way IPA" and "Bubble Butt Blonde." In total there are 20 taps that rotate frequently, though popular choices may stay on longer than others. Also available are craft and hard-to-find specialty beers in both bottles and cans, plus a small selection of wines by the glass and bottle, with saké coming soon. An elevated level of attention is given to the farm-to-table dishes, which are smoked, cooked over flame or roasted in a wood-burning oven. Standout offerings include the "killer shrimp" with roasted red peppers, tomato, shallots, habanero, cilantro and cream. The ash-roasted beet salad with baby greens, pickled onions, pecans and goat cheese is light with a punch of delicious flavor. The juicy burger is served on a grilled bun with thousand island, cheddar, butter lettuce, early girl tomatoes and red onions alongside crispy torn potatoes. Key lime pie is stellar with a thin swoosh of toasted meringue on the side.
