THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Industriel Restaurant Review:
This funky Cal-French restaurant in the heart of downtown celebrates an “urban farm cuisine.” The two-level space features a bar and lounge area upstairs, and a modern bistro-style dining room downstairs. For a view of the chefs in action, snag a seat at the large, square communal table by the exhibition-style kitchen near the entrance. Rustic design details and repurposed objects create a unique environment that includes a hanging sculpture made from plastic bear-shaped honey squeeze bottles. A litany of items --- bread, bacon, sausages, jams, chutneys, pickles, pastries and ice cream --- are made in-house daily. Start off with salmon or short rib croquettes; kale salad with bacon, Parmesan and white anchovies in a garlic-bacon dressing; or cheese or charcuterie plates. Mains might include risotto with forest mushrooms, a 32-ounce rib-eye for two with green-peppercorn glace, or five-spice-scented pork chop with cauliflower purée. Satisfy both your sweet and salty cravings with the chocolate caramel pretzel tart for dessert. Expect handcrafted cocktails and a select wine list.
