![]() : Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten (Jean-Georges, JoJo, ABC Kitchen, etc.) is behind The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges, located in the colonial homestead that once housed the venerable Emily Shaw’s Inn restaurant. The elegant and rustic space encompasses a downstairs dining room, upstairs dining room with barn-like ceilings and a wine cellar for private dining, not to mention two bars and four fireplaces. The farm-to-table cuisine features such delicately rendered options as kabocha squash toast with caramelized onions that merges Eastern and Western ingredients, and creative crispy sushi with hamachi. Entrées, including roasted lobster with black truffle and shoestring fries, exhibit the same artful presentations. Among the desserts are light and airy glazed donuts, a salted caramel sundae and artisan cakes and cookies. The wine list shows great range and careful selection, both in quality and price point. True to his commitment to local producers, Vongerichten even tracked down wines from New York and Connecticut that pair nicely with his menu. Cocktails follow the trend of using fresh ingredients and small-batch spirits, and there are also “mocktails” sans the alcohol. |
