: In the heart of downtown, chef Jean-Robert de Cavel --- the closest thing Cincinnati has to a celebrity chef --- offers a seasonal menu that draws from locally grown ingredients and has a contemporary bent rooted in French tradition. Outside, there’s an eye-catching food-themed mural, while inside the ambience is best described as cozy. Start with the green-lipped mussels, smoked, marinated and fragrant. Or opt for the sweetbreads seared in duck fat. The 3 Little Cochon entrée presents belly, ribs and tenderloin all on one plate. Finish with the chocolate macadamia tart with salted brown sugar. If you don't have reservations, you can still enjoy a taste of de Cavel's food. The bar is always buzzing and offers a full menu; the French Chateau burger is finished with blue cheese, caramelized onions, bacon and tomato, making for a delightful casual meal. |
