THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kilo Restaurant Review:

Walking into Kilo on an unassuming stretch of 9th Avenue never fails to feel like a treat, a discovery. Sidle up to the worn wooden bar or one of the few cozy tables in back, and you’re in good hands. Kilo takes its name and inspiration from the casual markets and stalls of the Mediterranean where food and wine is sold by the kilo. The fare is satisfying and creative. Mushroom tacos, fresh tortillas piled with a mountain of shiitake mushrooms, a drizzle of chili oil and cilantro, are surprisingly craveable. Kilo’s crispy, hearty cast iron kale is cooked skillfully and simply with olive oil, lemon and sea salt. Octopus with chickpeas and preserved lemon will convert any octopus skeptic, and short ribs are fall-apart tender. The wine list changes frequently and focuses on biodynamic and sustainable bottles, many of them esoteric. Knowledgeable staff will pick the perfect wine pairing, just ask.
