THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Huasteca Restaurant Review:
A spin-off of a relatively undiscovered Lynwood establishment, La Huasteca is one of the most stylish Mexican restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. The space is highlighted by grand archways, muraled walls, assorted Mexican artifacts and a hand-carved bar at which to sip premium tequilas. The cuisine, although proclaimed to be inspired by the Huasteca region of southern Mexico, is a diverse, multi-regional compilation of inviting specialties. Starters include a Yucatán-style cochinita pibil-stuffed quesadilla, shrimp in poblano cream sauce and excellent ceviche Veracruzano. Among entrées, you’ll find grilled red snapper, shrimp in a fiery habanero chile sauce, chile en nogada (poblano chile stuffed with meat and dried fruit, bathed in walnut sauce with pomegranate seeds), and several Oaxacan-style mole-topped dishes. Guests finish up with items like crêpes filled with cajeta and Kahlúa-infused caramel sauce, tres leches cake or flan.
