Lanna Thai Restaurant is a relatively standard yet eminently reliable Thai eatery in Pasadena’s increasingly gentrified Arroyo corridor. More stylish Saladang is down the street, but Lanna delivers low prices, friendly service and quality --- ideal for an exotic yet quick lunch between meetings or class. For appetizers, there are the usual fried calamari, larb salad and satays, not to mention a stylishly presented dish of deep-fried rock shrimp with spicy aïoli. For entrées, we’ve enjoyed the curries and grilled meats; whole deep-fried catfish and trout are available, too. The extensive menu concludes with tempura ice cream or sticky rice with mango.
