Lizarran Restaurant Review:

Most Americans who have traveled in Spain know pintxos, toothpick-oriented snacks that are laid out along a bar counter. But these savory morsels have never translated across the Atlantic to these shores. That is, until Lizarran. With a menu of 200-plus toothpick-stabbed snacks (think prosciutto on a baguette slice) plus a larger tapas menu, this SoHo restaurant is perfect for the indecisive. Much like dim sum, roving waiters wander the room offering pintxos and diners are charged based on the number of toothpicks left on their table at the end of the meal. Off the non-pintxos menu, some hits include the gooey ham-and-cheese croquetas, tender vermouth-glazed pork cheeks, paprika-laced octopus, and shrimp sautéed with garlic. The wine list, naturally, skews to Spain with some affordable options by the glass.
